Stone Town

Emerson Spice Hotel

One of the highest-rated stays in the old town, 4.8/5, and rightly famous for its rooftop restaurant where a set dinner runs most nights above the rooftops. The heritage rooms are theatrically decorated, each one different. There is no pool or lift and the stairs are steep, so it is about atmosphere, not resort comfort. From about US$250 a night (2026, verify).
